CANVAS COLLECTIVE
The Canvas Collective is a pop/rock band based out of New York. The band consists of Mandy Kessler (Vocals/Guitar), Kris Wong (Guitar/Bass/Synth), and Zack Brody (drums) who all met when they were studying at the Berklee College of Music. After being heavily involved in the Boston music scene, the band recorded their EP “Silence Wants Me but I Don’t Wanna Be
Quiet” during their senior year of college. The EP was released in August 2020 during the
Covid-19 pandemic and the band decided to change their alternative rock sound to a modern pop vibe, as heard in their new single, “Say Something”. The band is proud to write and release songs that are personal to them, with lyrical subjects that include personal issues and LGBT themes. With a new sound and a new home state, The Canvas Collective is ready to release a follow up to “Say Something” and start playing live again. -
RAWYA EL CHAB
Rawya El Chab is a Brooklyn-based performance artist and theater-maker from Beirut, Lebanon. A multidisciplinary storyteller, Rawya’s career trajectory combines classical training in theatre with contemporary art and community engagement, with extensive experiences in physical, interactive, and street interventions. She has performed in major productions, working with leading theatre and cinema directors in Lebanon. Coming of age in the aftermath of the Civil War in Beirut, she has come to understand and experience theater and art as a critical space and practice where the state of emergency is suspended to give place for social, ethical and aesthetic reflections. Her philosophy and vision emphasize the democratization of the tools of theater as a
means to respond and dismantle oppression and the reclaiming of public space as an extension of art-practice. Her process is immersed in ludic practices, engaging with ideas and concepts, and developing performances as a social commentary. -
